How consent to text messages is collected

AI GG Corp (OneRingAway) · Last updated October 1, 2026

This page describes, step by step, how a person agrees to receive text messages from OneRingAway. There is no web form: consent is given verbally, on a phone call the customer makes.

1. The customer calls the business

A customer calls a local service business (for example a plumber) on the business's advertised phone number. The OneRingAway automated assistant answers, says it is an AI receptionist, and takes the customer's name, service address and the work they need.

2. The customer agrees to an appointment

The assistant offers an appointment window and books it only when the customer says yes.

3. The assistant asks for permission to text, and sends only on a yes

After the customer agrees to the appointment window and before the booking is made, the assistant asks, in these words:

"Is it okay if I text the details to this number?"

If the customer says no, the appointment is still booked and no text is sent; the assistant says the time again and asks them to note it down. If the customer says yes, the assistant closes the call with, in words to this effect:

"Friday between 2 and 4 — we're sending you a text, just check the address in it and reply YES."

The text goes to the number the customer is calling from (or a different number only if the customer asked for that and read it out). Nobody is texted who did not call, book, and say yes on the call. For a restaurant, the question is "Is it okay if we text you at this number about the table?" and a no means the restaurant calls the guest instead.

4. The first text carries the required disclosures

The confirmation message reads, for example:

Granit Plumbing (via OneRingAway) — please check this is right:

Address: 2861 Dudley Avenue, Bronx, NY
When: Tuesday, September 2 between 10am and 12pm
Issue: kitchen sink leaking

Reply YES to confirm, or NO if anything is wrong.
Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.

Every message names the business the customer called and, in brackets, OneRingAway — the registered sender of the messages.

Replying YES confirms the appointment details. Replying NO flags an error and the business calls the customer. Replying STOP opts out; HELP returns help.

5. Messages the customer may receive afterwards

A short reply to their YES ("Perfect — you're all set. See you then.") or to their NO ("Thanks for catching that — someone will call you shortly to fix it.").
Nothing else, unless they call and book again.

Message frequency varies, typically 1 to 4 messages per appointment. Message and data rates may apply. No marketing messages are sent.

Business owners — the second audience

The owner of each business using OneRingAway also receives texts from the same number: a copy of every booking, message and job request taken on their line, and their own login codes. Owners give this consent in writing, on the first setup screen of the website (https://www.oneringaway.com/setup) and of the phone app, where the mobile number is entered. The box is unticked by default and must be ticked to continue; the moment it is ticked is recorded on the account. This is the box, exactly as it appears:

Your mobile Bookings and anything needing your yes are texted here.

An owner can stop at any time by replying STOP or by contacting us. Sample messages an owner receives:

OneRingAway: your app login code is 483920. It expires in 10 minutes. If you did not ask for it, ignore this message.

OneRingAway: Booking needs your OK — Tuesday, September 29 between 9am and 11am, 42 Elm St, sink leaking. Reply YES to confirm or NO to decline. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

OneRingAway: New job near you — kitchen sink leaking in 10701. Open the app to take it, or reply STOP to stop these.
